Yarralumla Bay Recreational Hub
Three options for a recreation hub at Yarralumla Bay were presented at a public consultation meeting last month. The master plan study aims to enhance tourist and recreation opportunities and improve lake water quality at Yarralumla Bay.

The public feedback was much appreciated, and a more refined concept will be developed and then discussed at a third consultation session later in the year.

Molonglo and North Weston
A further environmental assessment has been undertaken in Molonglo and North Weston by an independent consultant.

The assessment was jointly funded by the NCA and ACT Planning and Land Authority to inform any required changes to DA63. The draft amendment will be considered by the NCA in May prior to being forwarded for consideration to the Minister for Home Affairs, the Hon. Bob Debus MP.

PIA awards
The NCA's Griffin Legacy Amendments and Consultation Protocol were recognised at the Planning Institutes of Australia's Awards for Planning Excellence in November 2007. The four Griffin Legacy Amendments won the Urban Design - Plans and Ideas award and the Consultation Protocol was presented with a commendation for Community Based Planning. NCA Managing Director of Planning and Urban Design Todd Rohl said that it was an honour for the NCA to be recognised with an award and commendation from the peak planning body. The Griffin Legacy Amendments will go on to the Planning Institute of Australia's National awards in April 2008.

The development Control Plan No. 171/08/0005 has been prepared to establish planning and urban design provisions including building height, environment and heritage considerations, landscaping, vehicular access and car parking.

The Australian Government will spend $26.6 million over the next four years to replace the Russell roundabout with an overpass. It is the Government's first step toward building the Griffin Legacy plan.
