Heritage Strategy 2010-2013

Under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, Commonwealth agencies that own or control one or more places are required to prepare a heritage strategy. The purpose of the heritage strategy is to ensure that places with Commonwealth Heritage values are protected and managed properly.

The National Capital Authority's Heritage Strategy 2010-2013 outlines how the NCA will:

  • Identify and assess the Commonwealth Heritage values of places it manages;
  • Prepare a register of heritage places;
  • Prepare reports to the Minister administering the EPBC Act;
  • Manage heritage places and values, including the tools and measures that assist in satisfying heritage responsibilities; and
  • Identify corporate management, training and promotion responsibilities.

The National Capital Authority's Heritage Strategy 2010-2013 was endorsed by the Minister administering the EPBC Act in 2010. The NCA will review its Heritage Strategy in 2013.
