The National Capital Authority today announced the National Carillon will host a festival of events during April. 

“I encourage people to come down to Aspen Island this April for some fantastic events,” said NCA Chief Executive, Gary Rake.

“April is the only time of year tours are available of the National Carillon.  Visitors will be able to enter the tower to see the inside workings of this amazing musical instrument.

“There is something for everyone.  The Open Day is packed with entertainment for the kids and performances by local bands, while the Sunday Picnic will feature a special carillon recital and charity barbeque,” he said.

National Carillon Event Programme

  • Public tours every Thursday and Saturday, 12.30pm and 1.30pm
    for the only opportunity this year to see inside the National Carillon.  Bookings required.
  • Sunday Picnic on Sunday 10 April, 12.30pm to 1.30pm
    special carillon recital of popular tunes and a charity barbeque by the Rotary Club of South Canberra
  • Open Day on Sunday 17 April, 11am to 3pm
    with face painting, picnic games and craft activities for the kids, and featuring live performances by The Cashews and Vertical.
  • Instrument recitals on Wednesdays and Sundays, 12.30pm
    performed by Canberra's own carillonists.

All the events are free to attend.
