Development Control Plan for Manuka Cinema Site Open to Public Comment Print Write e-mail

7 December 2010

A draft Development Control Plan (DCP) to guide future development of the Manuka Cinema site on Canberra Avenue has been released for public comment.

The National Capital Authority prepared the draft DCP (DCP 10/08) to establish planning and urban design provisions, including building height, landscape character, access and parking.

The land (Blocks 1,2 & 5, 3 & 4 Section 96 Griffith) is adjacent to Canberra Avenue, a Main Avenue under the National Capital Plan. Under the National Capital Plan the NCA is required to produce the DCP.

Andrew Smith, NCA Chief Planner said the DCP will guide development adjacent to this main avenue.

'The draft DCP has been prepared to guide the future development of the site within the framework of the National Capital Plan and the Territory Plan.

'The draft DCP maintains the integrity of Canberra Avenue, and ensures the setting, buildings and purpose of development enhance the area,' he said.

Public information sessions will be held at the NCA office on Wednesday 15 December 2010 between 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm

The NCA will accept written comments until 5pm AEST, Monday 7 February 2010.  Comments will be assessed before a decision is made on the draft DCP.

The draft DCP can downloaded here, or viewed at the NCA reception and National Capital Exhibition.
