The National Capital Authority today released a document outlining its new approach to community engagement.

The ‘Commitment to Community Engagement’ sets out policy and protocol for communicating with the community.

Chapters of the document include:

  • Public Information
  • Consultation Protocol
  • Service Charter for Planning and Development Approvals
  • Feedback and Complain Handling

NCA Chief Executive Gary Rake said this was the next step in fostering a closer relationship with the community.

“When I started as Chief Executive I spoke to a wide range of individuals and organisations with an interest in the NCA. There was a common theme that people felt we needed to improve the way we connected with the community”

“Since then, the members of the Authority have been working hard to reach out to the community. The first step was to begin holding an annual Public Forum. The first two Public Forum events have been well attended and proved to be very successful”

“This document will build on that, and is the next step in further opening a door to ongoing, two-way dialogue between the NCA and the community” he said.
