Senate Order on Departmental and Agency Contracts Listing
Background
On 20 June 2001, Australia's Senate agreed to an order which requires each government agency (as defined by the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997) to publish aspects of its contracts with a value of $100,000 or more on its Internet homepage. The Senate subsequently amended its order on 27 September 2001, in June 2003 and again on 4 December 2003. The Government has agreed in principle to comply with the spirit of the Senate order.
Relevant Contracts
Pursuant to the Senate Order on departmental and agency contracts the following list sets out contracts entered into by the National Capital Authority which provide for a consideration to the value of $100 000 or more and which:
- have not been fully performed as at 30 June 2007, or
- have been entered into during the 12 months prior to 30 June 2007.
Most of the contracts listed contain confidentiality provisions of a general nature that are designed to protect the confidential information of the parties that may be obtained or generated in carrying out the contract.
The reasons for including such clauses include:
- ordinary commercial prudence that requires protection of trade secrets, proprietary information and the like; and/or
- protection of other Commonwealth material and personal information.
